Here’s another important little thing. Say thank you.
When you complete a project for a client, tell the client thank you for the business.
When a client, a colleague, or someone else refers, or even tries to refer, business to you, thank them.
When someone does something thoughtful to help you, thank them.
If someone treats you to lunch, dinner, the theater or a game, thank them.
How to thank them? There are many ways, but three stand out in my mind. My favorite is a handwritten thank you note. Receiving a handwritten letter is so rare that it is memorable. A phone call is also a good way to say thank you, but it leaves nothing in the hands of your recipient. Email can make the thank you immediate, but I would suggest following up with a handwritten note.
I don’t think we can thank our clients and referral sources enough.
